Competition is now closed.
But please feel free to have a look through and post up any of your own tips.
We'd love you to share what you do to relieve stress or take time out. In return you will be entered into a prize draw to win a digital camera.
When stress gets too much we all need an escape, but what's yours?
Your idea of finding an escape could be anything from walking in the countryside to watching Eastenders. Whatever it is you can describe it, photograph it, draw it or video it, it's up to you!
Every entrant will be placed into a prize draw and at the end of the competition a winner will be drawn randomly to win a Canon IXUS 220 HS compact digital camera.
The campaign will run from Monday 13 August to Friday 7 September, on which day the winner will be announced.
Please post your photographs, pictures, videos and comments below. You can use the 'Upload file' button to attach files to your post.
For more information please read the Great Escapes Terms and Conditions.

Permalink Reply by Gail Jones on August 17, 2012 at 16:20 My greatest escape is to drive off in my car on a respite taking either my laptop or the printed out version of my latest novel. I find a carpark with trees and grass all around. I wind down my windows and write or edit with the sound of birds singing and a gentle breeze refreshing my face. I don't even mind if it's pouring with rain. In that case the windows are up but the rhythm of the rain on the roof of the car is so soothing.
I am at my most creative when relaxing in that car!
Permalink Reply by Julie Adnams Hatch on August 17, 2012 at 17:11 I get 2 hours respite so I go swimming. I swim lengths, not fast, just swim and count lengths, turn and swim, count lengths, think of nothing but breathe, swim, count lengths until it becomes metronomic and then I call it meditation. No room in my head for anything, just feeling the water holding me, easing my tired body and soothing my aching heart. Just swim, breathe, count, turn, breathe, swim and swim and swim >>>> Aahh!!
My Great Escape is to cook, and bake. I just love to batch cook, chillies, curries, Bolognese, and Thai dishes. As well as roast chickens, and make dishes with them too.
When the freezer can't fit any more, I bake Cakes, Bread and cookies. If all else failes I make toasties

Permalink Reply by tim hardy on August 17, 2012 at 22:46 my great escape is to go out for a bike ride and pedal as though I was riding on Tour De France the effort I put in takes my mind off anything but riding so helps to clear my mind ready for the next challenge... I have just been out on the bike so bring it on !
I have some a small table in my spare bedroom and I love to spend time scrapbooking my photos. I select a few photos, add stickers and journalling to add thoughts etc. and build them up throughout the year. The from time to time, I look through my scrapbooks or share with others and this makes me feel good.
Permalink Reply by Janette Burt on August 18, 2012 at 9:19 My husband has frontal lobe dementia and my great escape is actually to fundraise and increase awareness of this terrible illness. I am passionate about the need for everyone caring for a loved one with dementia to have access to an Admiral Nurse and the more I can do the raise this profile the more satisfaction I get from knowing that my little bit of intervention may mean that Admiral Nurses are as common as Macmillan Nurses. I also very much enjoy the events I organise so the reward for me is attending these occasions and realising that there are some very generous and good people in this world.
