Competition is now closed.

But please feel free to have a look through and post up any of your own tips.

We'd love you to share what you do to relieve stress or take time out. In return you will be entered into a prize draw to win a digital camera.

When stress gets too much we all need an escape, but what's yours?

Your idea of finding an escape could be anything from walking in the countryside to watching Eastenders. Whatever it is you can describe it, photograph it, draw it or video it, it's up to you!

Every entrant will be placed into a prize draw and at the end of the competition a winner will be drawn randomly to win a Canon IXUS 220 HS compact digital camera.

The campaign will run from Monday 13 August to Friday 7 September, on which day the winner will be announced.

Please post your photographs, pictures, videos and comments below. You can use the 'Upload file' button to attach files to your post.

For more information please read the Great Escapes Terms and Conditions.

I turn up the music and shake my bumbum to some Afrobeatz and forget the world around me...

When I get stressed I grab mic karaoke is a great way to de stress and is a good laugh my little one joins in and we end up having loads of fun and forget what we were stressing aboug

A trip to a nearby shopping complex is great for me, as I have to take the person I care for everywhere I go she likes this place too.It is all on the flat with parking close to the shops & with all the shops we love even if we are just window shopping!

I like to do Needle Felting, you need to concentrate otherwise you may prick your finger! Creating unique objects certainly keeps the stress levels down.

being a care of 3 autistic boys i have two great escapes, the first being when i get the boys off to college and school i like to come straight home and run a hot bubble bath with some nice scented candles, apply a face mask and just chillax wash my hair as i can dry it without being disturbed and apply a little makeup and some nice perfume next i go for a long drive and play my music really loud and i sing along really loud, by the time i go and pick the boys up from school i have destressed ready for the rest of the week happy days.

I care for my Husband and last summer joined a newly formed community choir, we have so much fun singing inspirational and uplifting songs that all my stresses just seem to float away, oh how i look forward to FRIDAYS ! such a great end to the week.

Hi Janice,

Apologies, I had to delete the file you uploaded, as unfortunately I think having it on the site would count as illegal file sharing!

Anyone interested in hearing the song can do so on YouTube here

Thanks,

Sam

Hi everyone,

The great escapes competition is now closed. Thanks to everyone who posted a description or picture (or MP3!) of their stress relieving activities, there are some great suggestions.

I have privately contacted the selected winner of the competition and will announce it publicly here once they have accepted.

Please feel free to keep posting your stress escapes, they are all brilliant tips which I am sure will be useful to other carers.

Best wishes,

Sam
