Hi, I haven't posted here before but have done so on Alzheimers Forum which is where my caring is.
We have people to care for, I have someone to sit3 hrws per wk, I do not have family and freinds readily and close at hand to step in as and when, so please advise. Do I ahve to continue to pay for such services after the initial 12 month referal service - whether or not we can afford it. Is that not a form of discrimination?
Comment by Lucy Carers UK on June 28, 2012 at 11:47 Hi Maureen, welcome to Carewell.
Have you tried the Carers UK Adviceline? It's staffed by experts who will be able to answer your question and advise you on what action to take. You can contact them on adviceline@carersuk.org or 0808 808 7777 - leave a message if you get no answer, they are brilliant at responding!
I hope you get it sorted as having a break from your caring role is really important for your health and well-being.
Best wishes,
Lucy
