Hi my name is Pat and ilook after Nancie who is 96 and her friend Lucy who is 86.Nancie is partially sited and has a colostomy, unfortunatly her memory is failing her and is now finding it very difficult to cope so i became her full time carer, she has her friend Lucy living with her and Lucy has severe ostio-arthritis and finds walking very hard as her spine has curved and her legs are very stiff but she tries hard to walk about in the ouse every day.Although i used to be a senior care assistant in my younger days(im 54) things have changed quite a bit and things are really different,so its all new and i might add confusing, but i hope with the help of you guys i can soon get up to speed

Hi Pat,

Welcome to the site. Hopefully some of the experienced carers in the forum can give you some tips. Also try out our partners Carers UK who have a site with loads of great tips on support for carers.

Let me know if you have any questions about the site.

Best wishes,

Sam

Hi Pat, welcome to Carewell.

I thought you might find the Carers UK's 'Quick Guide to Caring' useful to start with - you can read it here: http://www.carersuk.org/help-and-advice/quick-guide-to-caring

If you have any questions, let us know on here and we'll try and help in any way we can!

Best wishes,

Lucy
