What financial help on discharge from NHS hospital?
My wife,who has severe mobility limitations (brain tumour), is on a catheter and has other related serious problems is being discharged home in a few weeks. She needs two people to look after her thus I will need a paid, probably live-in,carer to help me.
I had heard that, even if our savings level means that we get no financial assistance from the Council or DWP, she is entitled to non-means tested caring help for the first 4-6 weeks after discharge.
Can anyone tell me if that is true and any written reference for it?
I should add that she already gets DLA and I think that I can apply for Carers Allowance.

You need a carers assesment to be done for you ,A socil worker from adult services can help you with this the hospital or your docter will contaced them for you ,age conserne can help you to .

Has your wife had a continuing care assessment this can lead to health funding and then she may not have to pay a contribution you need to ask the social worker to make the referral. You may need to be assertive to get ome done but if its succesful it is worth it.
