My wife, who has severe mobility limitations (brain tumour), is on a catheter and has other related serious problems is being discharged home in a few weeks. She needs two people to look after her thus I will need a paid, probably live-in,carer to help me.
I had heard that, even if our savings level means that we get no financial assistance from the Council or DWP, she is entitled to non-means tested caring help for the first 4-6 weeks after discharge.
Can anyone tell me if that is true and any written reference for it?
I should add that she already gets DLA and I think that I can apply for Carers Allowance.
